Well I’ve never really seriously considered myself a “hollywood” nerd - you know the types with black pants that are about 4 inches too short, white socks, pocket protectors for the pens etc…

But I do tend to use the computer alot and have done so for a lot of years. Okay so being a nerd isn’t all about being a computer geek, there’s other factors like being able to do calculus in your head, or recite the periodic table in reverse and all that shit… and good on ya if you can - but I can’t - and I’ve yet to be caught in a situation where I’d either need to… or rather really want to!!!

I rarely watch the news these days. I generally get my information second-hand from other people. Usually it’s people in another country asking me what’s going on with such and such and I generally respond with “Floods in the UK? Car Bombs ready to explode in London? Huh?”.

Considering today I was meant to be working hard on a ccie lab - I couldn’t quite find the enthusiasm for it so I thought I’d take the time instead to catch up on some news instead. It all started on The Age website, about an artice regarding the “cracking” of the new Blu-Ray/HD-DVD encryption that’s cost the movie houses millions to develop. After some trawling on the site where the guy who “cracked” it posted his work etc, I stumbled on another artice about now-famous The Pirate Bay torrent tracker site (yep the one that got raided a little while ago).
