The Question: How do you make a winning ad?
Many of us are in the marketing & advertising industry and need to develop and manage campaigns which will hopefully increase awareness and sales. But the consumer is changing at an alarming rate. In the wired world we live in, with consumer blogs and user-generated advertising, how does a company stay ahead of the game. What appeals to todays customers and how do we get them to buy our shit?

Risk is a great game. It inspires drinking, it inspires strategy and tactics, it turns friends into enemies, and it doesn’t cost anything (except for your friendship).
I once shaved half my face during a game of Risk against Pomps and Matty and they were all so immersed in the game they didn’t notice - in fact even I was so immersed in the game I forgot I’d done it until much later.
One time, Pomps and I beat Monty so many times over one weekend that he moved to Canada.
And who could forget when Losty and Kman woke my parents and almost killed each other one night over so-called “cheat rolls” - I truly feared for my life.
They even say this latest Russian invasion of Gerogia is based on a Risk-style strategy developed by Pomps - that is, put all your initial units into one country and blow the shit out of it before launching your counter assualt on surrounding nations - So watch out Azerbaijan, Armenia and Turkey.
If you don’t feel like playing a game of Risk after reading this, even just a little bit, then your a massive homosexual. I’m so pumped after writing this I’m going to now go and microwave myself a chunky beef meat pie (so manly) and wash it down with a red bull.

Like many people who have bought the iPhone, I’ve realised it is lacking in a lot of basic features. But firstly let me say its a beautiful device to use - very easy, smooth and shiny, and great screen, and the internet browsing is the sweetest I’ve used on a phone. So they are the reasons I bought one even though I knew I could no longer MMS or take decent resolution photos and would look like a jerk-off talking on it.
But there was one basic feature I didnt expect to be locked out, that is being able to choose my ringtone. The money grabbers at Apple decided to bar users from setting their favourite songs as ringtones, and instead makes you pay for them. Fuck that I say. So I googled myself up a working solution and wanted to share it with you other iPhone owners (Kendall being the only one I know of).
Here’s the link: http://cybernetnews.com/2008/08/21/cybernotes-create-free-iphone-ringtones-using-itunes-in-windows/#more-14702
It worked for me. And its only a matter of time before Apple find a way to block it. So exploit it while you can.
